John Robinson 6
Welcome to Ultimate Record Collection: David Bowie, Pt 2 (1977-1989). It's the second volume in our definitive Bowie timeline trilogy: all the records in order of release, with first-person eyewitness accounts from the people who worked alongside Bowie making the music. Just in case the pandemic stopped you finding Part 1, that's been reprinted and is available in our store (uncut.co.uk/single) now, too. Or you can get the pair in a heavily-discounted bundle. All with free UK P&P. Meanwhile, if ever there was an opportunity for you to tell us about your favourite Space Oddity oddity or post your favourite regional sleeve variation, it's now... Guest Rob Franks
Hi John - so just to be clear, is the Bowie RC pt2 only available to purchase online? (As I would have been hunting around Tesco and Sainsburys later...)
John Robinson 6
Hi Rob You're quite right, yes - it's an online exclusive. Sainsbury's will net you a UMG Talking Heads but Bowie pt 2 is here with free UK P&P: https://magazines.bandlabtechnologies.com/store/products,ultimate-record-collection-david-bowie-part-ii_269.htm Cheers JR
Guest Thanks John - order placed
👌
junkshopman 1
Re favourite foreign Bowie sleeve - this South African album from 1973 (basically Deram 'Images' comp in a different order) is a personal favourite. And not too pricey on Discogs too, if you fancy adding it to your record collection.
John Robinson 6
Love it. I like the cartoon Images cover (US version is it?) where Uncle Arthur looks like Ringo Starr. The 1975 one where they have the "Philly Dogs" cover tells its own story too.
junkshopman 1
Yes, those World Of variants are interesting too. I have the bubble perm one in mono - but, interestingly enough (to me at least) - just found out that 'The mono edition of this collection is a fold-down of the stereo tape, and therefore does not contain the true mono mixes available prior and/or since on other releases.' Damn! Another favourite variant attached. A US pressing of even earlier material - from the three Pye singles (including the Lower Third one).
John Robinson 6
When's that from - late 70s? "Do Anything You Say" very much my fave.
junkshopman 1
On further researching the album I've found that it actually was a Canadian release - and came out in 1981.
Scott 2
@John RobinsonI'm glad you've reprinted the first part of this Bowie trilogy. I somehow missed it first time around, and the copies for sale on eBay are extortionate! I ordered Parts 1 and 2 a couple of days ago, really looking forward to receiving them 🙂
junkshopman 1
Just been sent this by a Scottish Bowie fan friend - from a local paper back in the day. 'The Human Oddity' indeed.
junkshopman 1
And another one - from Diana.

Hope you enjoy them when they arrive! Cheers John
Rob Franks 3
Some UMG hopes for 2021...The Doors (50th anniversary of JM's death), T-Rex (50 yrs since Electric Warrior), Blur (30 years since Leisure), Nirvana/Foos (30 years since Nevermind), Arctic Monkeys (15 years since WPSIATWIN). And Jack White. Just because.

Also deluxe versions of Depeche Mode and Kate Bush, just because I missed them first time around! Edited November 18, 2020 by Scott
